The Peril Risks section is now located under "Exposure" in the new UI.

All data and insights in the "Exposure" tab are add-on services, if interested please reach out to support@betterview.com.

Data & Insights under the "Exposure" tab

  • Exposure risks grouped by perils

  1. Hurricane

  2. Wildfire

  3. Wind

  4. Hail

  5. Flood

  6. Snow Load

  7. Crime

  • Overall Risk Insights - Claim Predictor

To understand overall peril risk, you need both regional hazard & property-level (structure) vulnerability.

The Claim Predictors (now available for Hail and Wind) combine regional hazard data from Guidewire HazardHub or FEMA and property-level vulnerability scores from Betterview. These predictors are trained against historical claims to reveal the likelihood of claims for those perils. It is on a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being the most risky and 5 being the least risky.

  • Regional & Local Hazard

Regional and local hazard data from trusted hazard data providers such as Guidewire HazardHub and FEMA. These hazard data and scores are housed in each peril group.

  • Structure Vulnerability

Vulnerability scores (now available for wildfire, hurricane, hail, and wind) developed by Betterview are housed in each peril group. Vulnerability is the likelihood a structure will be damaged if a peril were to occur in an area.

Our industry-leading computer vision analyzes aerial imagery and detects property-level vulnerabilities. We then match these detections with historical claims/damage to identify factors that led to the losses, such as roof staining, roof material, missing shingles, defensible space, etc.

It is on a scale of 1 to 5, 1 representing greatly increased vulnerability and 5 representing greatly reduced vulnerability.

  • Other Relevant Details Related to the Perils

  1. Defensible Space (for Wildfire Risk)(more details to come)

  2. Tree Fall Risk (for Wind Risk) (more details to come)

  • Partner Cards

Partner cards from individual peril data providers through Partner Connect. Existing partners include Guidewire HazardHub, RedZone, Iceye, Canopy Weather, True Flood Risk, FEMA, Augurisk, Firewise USA, and California Fire Risk Reduction Community.

Here are some examples of the data and risk factors under the partner cards:

  • Guidewire HazardHub: detailed data relevant to peril risks, such as risk scores, historical events, etc.

  • RedZone: Proprietary wildfire score, list of historical wildfire events, etc.

  • FEMA: National Risk Index Rating, Peril Risk Score Ratings.

  • Canopy: Hail size dossier, historical hail records, damage probabilities based on roof type and condition.

  • True Flood Risk: First Floor Height Data, flood risk score, etc.

  • Iceye: Interactive flood maps, historical flood events, etc.
