The following features are currently available in the Betterview application. If you have any questions about the new functionality, please reach out to your Betterview contact, or email support@betterview.com.

Table of Contents:

  • COPE Layout Defaulted On

  • New Detections for Roof Objects and Yard Objects

  • Property Parcel Deduplication in Bulk Submissions

  • Property Parcel Deduplication in API

COPE Layout Defaulted to On

Configuration: None

User Limitation: None

Availability: Immediate

Betterview has enabled the COPE layout for all users. Users will still be able to toggle between the legacy property profile and the COPE layout by clicking on the COPE layout toggle in the header section of property profiles. Betterview is currently expecting to retire the legacy property profile in late Q3 2023.

New Detections for Roof Objects and Yard Objects

Betterview has introduced several new detections for newly analyzed properties that provide more granular information about roof characteristics and objects commonly found across both residential and commercial properties. These new detections are as follows:

Roof Objects:

  • Chimney

  • Vents

  • Skylight

  • Roof Equipment

  • Walkway

  • Satellite Dish

  • Duct

  • Miscellaneous Roof Objects

Yard Objects:

  • Propane Tank

  • Shipping Container

  • Tire

  • Trailer

  • Wooden Construction Material

  • Wooden Pallet

  • Playground

  • Firepit

  • Boat

  • Patio Furniture

None of these detections are currently counted within Roof Spotlight Index, though they do all have spotlights and will be shown within the Construction tab in the COPE layout.

Existing Property Parcel Deduplication in Bulk

Configuration: None

User Limitation: None

Availability: Immediate

Previously, properties within a bulk file were deduplicated automatically, ensuring that a single bulk file wouldn’t incidentally create new property profiles for the exact same location. Betterview has now expanded this functionality to include all properties within a customer’s environment, such that Betterview will check all properties requested in bulk for any duplicate instance of that same parcel. If a duplicate parcel is found, Betterview will return that duplicate parcel in the Order History page, and if new imagery is available for that parcel, Betterview will update imagery accordingly. If no new duplicate parcels are found, Betterview will process the request as usual.

Existing Property Parcel Deduplication via API

Configuration: None

User Limitation: Limited to API users

Availability: Immediate

When an API user requests a property profile, Betterview will check the customer’s environment for any instance of that same parcel. If it exists, Betterview will respond synchronously or via callback with the associated references from the original request and the data from the existing profile. Further, if there is new imagery available for that profile, Betterview will grade the newest imagery and respond with that updated detail. If there are no existing instances for the same parcel, the process is the same as normal.

Property parcel deduplication via API now helps API users for two use cases.

  1. Finding the most current existing property profile given a location

  1. Ensures that a request for a location that already exists within a customer’s environment will return the most current profile instead of creating a new one

There are no required changes to an API integration in order to take advantage of this enhanced functionality. Rather, this is now the default behavior of the POST via API.
